012 - House in Epping Forest
A noble agrarian building sitting adjacent to a walled ground and facing the forest; a home primarily about living in the landscape.
The eclectic, ambiguous quality of the house makes references to the architectural language of Veneto, while simultaneously anchored in brick architecture of Northeast Iran and Central Asia.
The construction eschews petroleum based products with in favour of a radically low tech building approach and the use of bio based materials. Mass clay walls and timber construction are the main building methods, and the house has a hand made quality.
For Sergison Bates architects.
Built by Rooff.
